Acquisition of this prominent and historic piano will enjoin you to the peerage of ownership of one of the most unique instruments ever produced.

The Charles M. Schwab Steinway B piano is a magnificent 6'11" grand art case instrument, originally commissioned specifically for one of the grandest homes of its time. This piano was designed to be the personal piano for Charles M. Schwab’s expansive 50,000 square foot residence, standing as a centerpiece of both musical excellence and exquisite craftsmanship within the opulent surroundings of his 75-room chateau.

Crafted with a carved oak wood case, the piano showcases highly detailed relief carvings featuring mythological figures, likely putti or cherubs, intertwined with intricate foliage motifs. The artistry and woodworking display an exceptional level of skill and attention to detail, perfectly complementing the grandeur and aesthetic of the home. Built in 1919, the Steinway B reflects the elegance and refined tastes of the period, with a design that parallels the luxurious ambiance of the era following the completion of Schwab’s house in 1906.

The piano underwent a complete and professional ground-up restoration in 2016 by Atlantic Music Center in Melbourne, Florida. Despite its age, the original soundboard and plate were preserved, ensuring the instrument’s authentic voice remains intact. High-quality Renner parts were used during the rebuild, and even the accompanying leather bench was reupholstered to maintain the piano’s overall prestige and comfort. Thanks to this meticulous restoration, the piano's action is believed to be better than when it was first made, offering a breathtaking sound and performance that rival its original brilliance.

This Steinway stands apart not only because of its top-tier craftsmanship but also as a testament to Schwab’s success in the steel industry, which heavily influenced the piano’s creation and style. Manufactured in New York, Steinway remains one of the world’s most esteemed piano makers, and this particular model carries the legacy of being both a superb musical instrument and an artistic masterpiece.

While there are no known associations with famous musicians or significant events related to this individual piano, its presence in Schwab’s chateau perfectly suited the lavish décor and grand scale of the residence. Positioned as a brilliant instrument for a performer or a striking piece of furniture, the Charles M. Schwab Steinway B continues to evoke admiration and awe both in its original condition and after restoration, embodying the perfect fusion of artistry, history, and musical excellence.

Please consider the legacy and distinction in ownership of such a unique exhibition of craftsmanship and antiquity.
